In a recent Freshly Pressed post by Johnnie Craig of “I Have Grave News” site, he asks the question: “Why is a taxi driver’s time more precious than anyone else’s?”
Well, since we do not have that kind of problem here in slower Delaware, I beg then to differ. For me, it’s the cable guy’s time.
One day, Steve the cable guy came to my house rushing to finish the job, knocking off some stuff along the way, tripping on the cable wire, stepping on two cats (I’m exaggerating, he only stepped on one), screaming my name from the ground floor – all to accomplish his mission. Poor guy has a schedule to meet!
Can’t complain.
So here comes the phone survey a few minutes after he left. What’s a householder to do? I was just being honest, did not mean to get him into trouble. Here goes…
Did he show up on time? No
Did he clean up the packaging material before leaving? No
Did the technician explain fully the operations of the new equipment? No
On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest, how would you rate the technician’s professionalism? My answer: 5 (hey, I’m being kind).
For Johnnie, don’t you just wish they have surveys for taxi drivers?
Life…. what are we to do?
Moral of the story: Be nice and professional to everyone you meet, you never know when a survey will be sent to them asking about you. And who knows, one day, they might end up in your interview panel too.
Hi Anna
I’m glad you took the time to ‘complain’ even if you did so via the survey.
I’ve always thought you should be nice and professional to anyone you meet ANYWAY. Just because.

Hey Tina,
I normally don’t complain but surveys are good way to vent out, lol
Take care!

Sweet!! .. the sarcasm was funny, put a smile on my face while reading and hearing your voice saying those things!! .. sorry but i was amused!
It’s okay Diane, supposed to be amusingly sarcastic, or is it sarcastically amusing? hehe
Thanks for linking to my post. The thing about taxi drivers [where I live] is that they make up their own rules, so they’d pay little heed to the results of a survey.
Some Dublin cab drivers, who belonged to a union, recently tried to draw attention to their apparent financial plight by blocking one of the main public transport arteries through the city centre, ensuring that hundreds of commuters (and their potential customers) were at the very least inconvenienced in getting to and from work that day. If their ‘logic’ is trying to appeal to the public’s sympathy by pissing them off, you can see just what a different planet they live on.
You’re welcome Johnnie! And thanks for responding
Well, at least where you live, they make their own rules. But in Ney York, they don’t seem to have any, LOL.
I saw those cab drivers cut each other off in Manhattan, scared the heck out of me! I couldn’t believe my eyes! They cut each other off, like “eating their own kind,” I mean, don’t they know each other? I imagine they do.
And yeah, we have the bus transportation company in Philly area pretty much did the same thing your Dublin taxt drivers did, paralyzed commuters.
Thanks for stopping by! – Anna
