In the local news, three Delaware daycare employees were accused of encouraging toddlers in their care to fight, while video-taping the incident using their cell phones.

Now why would the above be wrong when humans would in fact glorify fighting in sports like boxing and wrestling?

One might answer that the reason why the first one is wrong is because toddlers are children who did not have a choice but to comply with the wishes of these wicked and stupid adults who are supposed to care and look after them.

But could it be possible that some athletes in barbaric sports like boxing and wrestling could also possibly not have any other options in their choice of career? Take for example Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao. Manny is catapulted to wealth and international fame because of his skills and talent as a boxer.

However, we must also remember that Manny was pushed into this fighting career by extreme poverty. Manny was one of many children from a very poor family and had to leave home at the tender age of 14 when most children this age would still be going to school and looked after by their loving parents.

Manny lived on the streets and became a street vendor to support himself and probably his family. Had he stayed at school and supported by a capable parent, he most possibly would not have ended up doing boxing. Some might say it’s a “blessing.” Why, as a former devout Catholic, he would even make the sign of the cross before a boxing match – as I am sure his opponent would be doing the same, however way he would pray (which by the way is the same as two countries about to go to war against each other and their soldiers would pray and ask for blessings from the same Creator and in effect telling God “to please let us kill them first before they kill us.”).

But to those who have the wisdom to truly understand, it is not a blessing. For what kind of loving God would encourage such fierce activity as to hurt another human being to the delight of cheering spectators? Is that not what they used to do in Roman coliseums in the ancient times when gladiators would fight to death and the crowd would go wild as the losing one breathed their last?

Boxing and wrestling can be considered modern-day barbarian combat, and in God’s eyes, are no different from the daycare incident mentioned earlier. The criminal action of the three Delaware women who encouraged two little humans to fight for their amusement is no different from other people encouraging the establishment of boxing/wrestling by patronizing such activities for personal enjoyment.

The only difference is that the women did not have to pay monetarily for tickets to enter a stadium or use their credit cards to view the show on television. They watched it for free – at a cost not against their pockets but against their names and reputations.

The world is passing away and so is its desires BUT he that does the will of God remains FOREVER. 1 John 2:17
(Note: The “world’ referrred to by this Bible verse is not the beautiful Earth created by our loving God for humans – which the Bible itself said will stand to times indefinite – but mankind’s wickedness and useless pursuits that do not solve mankind’s long-time problems)
